The Woodlands is the one area around Houston where shade is the dominant factor rather than sun. The tree canopy that makes the neighbourhoods what they are also keeps pool decks and patios damp for far longer after rain than an open Katy backyard would be.
That shifts the problem. Overheating is less of an issue here; what we see instead is organic staining, algae in the shaded corners, and surfaces that stay slick well after the rain has stopped. Leaf tannin leaves dark marks that do not scrub out of bare concrete.
